To Kindle Or Not To Kindle....
So I have heard a lot of great things about the kindle but have yet to try it. Some of the features that appeal to me are the fact that you can look up words with it, you can highlight passages, and of course, it opens right back up to where you left off. Perhaps best of all, the version I have posted here is that it can be used globally for downloads. This is great news, because when traveling, you can have dozens of books on your little kindle without all the bulk. Finally, I like the fact that there are actually free downloads for the kindle- including quite a few classics.

My husband actually had one for Christmas, and he is absolutely thrilled to bits with it. The free downloads are fantastic. The whole book is downloaded SO quickly. He likes it as well, because you can have different size fonts, to make for easier reading. Personally, I like to read a 'real' book, but I will definitely be borrowing it when I go on holiday, because it is so light to carry and you will have stacks of books to read. I must admit when I was on holiday in Cyprus last year, I noticed that several people were using them around the pool.
ReplyDeleteI love it! It's very easy on the eyes and downloads books super fast. I enjoy the free word games too.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of different sized fonts~ my eyes get so tired from trying to read books that are in smaller print.. Thanks so much for all the great feedback :)
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer the feel of a good old fashioned book, but many of my friends adore theirs and like it for travelling. Plus, they really are doing wonders for publishing companies!

I'm not sure.. I kind of like the idea that you can carry different books on that kindle... but I love being classic.. so I'll go to paper ones...
ReplyDeleteYes, AubrieAnne, I love the feel & smell of an old fashioned book. That said, it seems like the perfect way to travel with reading material & certainly has a lot of nice perks to it that the old fashioned book don't. I could see getting hooked on one once I got one ;)
ReplyDeleteI meant to say I TOO love the feel & smell of an old fashioned book..
ReplyDeleteI love paperbooks and not so much electronic books. But I got Kindle for my birthday. It should arrive in couple of days, so let´s see if i change my mind.
ReplyDeleteMadInCanarias~ awesome! Let us know how you like it :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a Kindle, but I look at a computer screen all day - not sure I want to continue on at night (which is when I read mostly).
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! Thanks for stopping by A Cup of Romance and I'm now following you =)

ReplyDeleteI love books. I love to hold them and turn the pages. I'm curious about Kindle but I'm not ready to part with my books just yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm an OLD SCHOOL geek. I love holding a book as well, but I'm always in denial when it comes to the latest technology and I always end up getting it ... I know. Hey thanks for following me on http://www.markhampenny.blogspot.com I returned the love!

ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for the follow! I'm following back now. I would love to have a Kindle or Nook or some other sort of electronic book reader, but when it comes down to it, I love the feel of turning pages and the smell of an old book.

I just keeping having flashbacks of the old Star Trek series and Dr. McCoy standing in the hospital reading off of his electronic clipboard.....
ReplyDeleteThey say if you want to see the technology of the future - look at Science Fiction - they're usually not too far off.
I have not been sure about these either? I have relatives who can't live without them. We'll see! Thanks for following me on My Life is a Reality Show...I am returning the favor and am your newest follower!

I don't know anyone with a kindle, but I'm afraid I'm old school. I love reading & I love having the actual book in my hand, but as with everything in life, everyone is different.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow. Following from the blog hop!
Thanks for Visiting Ascending Butterfly, aren't Linky Hops fun?
ReplyDeleteI have a Sony e-reader, and they are cited as the reader that is the 'healthiest' on the eyes, so I'm happy I ended up with that one, but the Nook is looking mighty tempting! I do love 'real' books, so I often times alternate between the two!

I think there's room for both - still wouldn't want to leave my fabulous Kindle on the beach or lose it, while if the same happened to my paperback book it wouldn't be the end of the world as we know it!
